Overview of previous employment and academic
pursuits
While
completing a BA degree in Integrated Studies, I continued working in part-time
positions for student success programs.
These jobs ranged from peer counseling to instructing and mentoring
various student populations in math, English and computer applications. The high percentage of enrolled students
gaining academic readiness and the ability to satisfy university requirements
for successful graduation shows the effectiveness of the programs and staff.
Additionally,
while pursuing and completing the MS degree in Management and Information Technology
from California State University-Monterey Bay, my studies prompted establishing
of a small online business that also tapped previous retail experience in
managing the tasks and responsibilities of self-employment.
This
online business provided a sandbox test area to learn by doing and greatly
enhanced my comprehension of the complex subjects in the study and management
of information technology. As a
result, I learned to create websites; establish an e-commerce presence; and,
conduct academic research to address issues surrounding human interaction with
disruptive, innovative technologies.
Recently,
I installed and successfully deployed Mac and PC operating systems including
the Microsoft Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. Additionally, I installed, deployed and am currently
learning to use MicrosoftÕs SQL Server 2005 database system and tools.
I
am particularly interested in the technological, economic, social and legal
aspects of innovative technologies such as peer to peer networks and other
smart devices used for sharing, mobility and storage of sensitive files. Some of these technologies already have
important and deep security measures onboard including self-protecting
mechanisms. These are having
tremendous impacts upon users requiring accurate information dissemination. The
prospect of entering a conscious and ethical knowledge workforce prepared to
manage these systems is exciting.
I
hope to combine my recent education and sincere desire to put people first with
